Autoimmune Health

More than 50 million Americans suffer from an autoimmune disease. Although there are several types of Autoimmune conditions, they all develop from an imbalanced and dysregulated immune system. I take a functional, personalized approach and work with you to uncover the underlying triggers of your autoimmune condition. I can help you restore your overall health, alleviate symptoms, reduce inflammation, and repair your gut health so that you can live a life you enjoy.

I'm based in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, but I see clients statewide through online consultations.

What is an autoimmune disease?

An autoimmune disease occurs when your body’s immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells. There are more than 80 types of autoimmune diseases; some of the most common include:

  • Hashimoto’s thyroiditis; less commonly Graves' disease

  • Rheumatoid arthritis

  • Psoriasis

  • Lupus

  • Multiple sclerosis

Current research shows that an autoimmune condition develops when there is a genetic predisposition, an environmental trigger(s) that affect the way your genes are expressed, and intestinal permeability, or "leaky gut." A leaky gut is when your intestinal lining becomes hyper-permeable, which then allows particles such as toxins, microbes, and partially digested foods to leak from your gut and travel freely through your bloodstream. This then causes your immune system to be on high alert due to potential threats.

What are symptoms of autoimmune conditions?

Autoimmune conditions cause a range of symptoms that can make getting a definitive diagnosis difficult. Some of the most common symptoms include:

  • Fatigue

  • Joint pain

  • Skin rash

  • Fever

  • Abdominal pain

  • Changes in digestion

  • Swollen glands

What can I expect during an autoimmune disease evaluation?

You can expect a comprehensive evaluation when you work with me for improving your autoimmune condition and your overall health. We will work together to identify the underlying cause of your symptoms, so you get the most targeted, personalized care.

During your evaluation, I will ask detailed questions about your symptoms, medical and family history, diet, exercise routine, daily stresses, and environmental factors that may affect your health.

I may also request functional lab tests and blood work to gather more information about your health, including but not limited to comprehensive stool testing, food sensitivity testing, mold/mycotoxin testing, micronutrient testing, organic acids testing, genetics, adrenal panel, or a check of your hormone levels.

The expected duration of work with me varies from person to person, but expect to work with me at a 4-month minimum and up to 6 to 12 months. This includes an initial consultation, a follow-up review of labs appointment, twice-monthly 30-minute follow-up sessions. and unlimited secure portal messaging in between sessions.

What does restoring your health with an autoimmune condition include?

Your healing plan may include dietary changes, lifestyle modifications, drainage & detoxification support, removing pathogens, minimizing environmental toxins, healing the digestive tract & restoring gut function, optimizing nutrient intake with whole foods, targeted supplementation & nutraceuticals, exercise & body movement, and wellness coaching for mind and body health.
