I'm based in Murfreesboro, Tennessee where I offer in-person personal training and functional wellness coaching at Blueprint Fitness. I am a certified personal trainer (CPT) through NASM, an OPEX Coach, and a certified functional wellness coach. I also offer online consultations for the functional wellness coaching sessions.
What is personal training?
Your thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland found at the base of your neck that produces a group of hormones referred to as thyroid hormones. Keeping your thyroid in balance is important for your body because there is no part of you that can function optimally when you have thyroid issues. These hormones play an essential role in many vital body functions, including regulating metabolism and metabolic processes, digestive function, muscle function, body temperature, growth, and development of the nervous system.
What benefits are there to working with a personal trainer?
There are many conditions that affect thyroid function. Some common thyroid conditions include hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Hashimoto's, Graves' disease, goiter, thyroid cancer, and thyroid nodules. These thyroid conditions can go undiagnosed or improperly managed, which can lead to other health issues, such as heart disease. Certain thyroid conditions can develop due to problems with your immune system, including Grave’s disease and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.
What is functional fitness?
The thyroid gland controls almost all of the metabolic processes in your body, so when the thyroid gland is affected you can experience a wide range of symptoms. Some of the most common symptoms include:

Weight gain or weight loss
What can you expect working with me as your personal trainer?
You can expect a comprehensive evaluation when you work with me for concerns about your thyroid. As a functional medicine consultant & coach, as well as with my own personal struggle with thyroid issues, I take a health-centered, personalized approach that focuses on identifying the root cause of your thyroid condition, removing any triggers & insults, and supporting your body to heal so you can get back to being healthy, vibrant and whole.
During your evaluation, I will ask detailed questions about your personal health as well as your symptoms. I will look into your diet, lifestyle, exercise habits, and environmental exposures to assist me in identifying factors that affect your thyroid health and overall health.
I may recommend functional lab testing and blood work that may review your gut, thyroid function, thyroid antibodies, adrenals, liver function, blood counts, blood sugar regulation, food sensitivities, genetics. This data can help uncover the root cause as well as develop a plan to restore your thyroid function.
The expected duration of work with me varies from person to person, but expect to work with me at a 4-month minimum and up to 6 to 12 months. This includes an initial consultation, a follow-up review of labs appointment, and twice-monthly 30-minute follow-up sessions thereafter (total of 8 sessions for the 4-month package).
What is included in the personal training package?
Restoration of your thyroid health is personalized based on your underlying causes and your commitment level. The main areas I use to help promote healing include dietary changes, lifestyle changes, drainage & detoxification support, removing pathogens, minimizing environmental toxins, healing the digestive tract & restoring gut function, optimizing nutrient intake with whole foods, targeted supplementation & nutraceuticals, weight loss strategies, exercise & body movement, and wellness coaching for mind and body health. I may also refer out and work to collaborate with your healthcare provider in cases where thyroid hormone medication could be of benefit.
